The 2021 Open Conference season of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) rolled into action last 17 July 2021 with ten (10) teams vying to be the first ever Champions in the inaugural season of the PVL as a professional league. With the title on the line, the brightest stars of Philippine Volleyball have descended into PCV Socio-Civic and Cultural Center, Bacarra, Ilocos Norte for a bubble tournament.
Thirteen (13) games have so far been played and we already see familiar names dominating the score sheets.

In second place is the Phenom Alyssa Valdez who tallied 56 points after three games for the Creamline Cool Smashers to post an average of 18.67 points per game. Rounding up the top three (3) is Kat Tolentino who is contributing 18 points per outing for the Choco Mucho Flying Titans.
In terms of total points scored, Mar Jana Philips of the Sta. Lucia Realtors lead the pack with sixty-one (61) points as of 23 July 2021. In her opening game against Creamline Cool Smashers last 17 July 2021, Mar Jana scored 20 points in a losing effort against the PVL defending champions. She followed it up with a 14-point performance as the Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors bounced back with a 3-1 victory against the PLDT Power Hitters on 19 July 2021.
Her superb offensive performance continued as she dropped another 20-point game in Sta. Lucia's 3-1 defeat against the Cignal HD Spikers on 21 July 2021. Her offense took a dip, however, as she was limited to only seven (7) points in another loss against the Choco Mucho Titans on 23 July 2021.
The Phenom Alyssa Valdez came second with a total output of 56 points. Her best effort came in her first and third game of the season when she scored 20 points in each. So far, her team remains undefeated in three (3) games.
Completing the top three (3) is Jaja Santiago. The Japan V Cup champion has so far scored 49 points after three games, two (2) of which were victories. Their lone defeat came in the hands of the Balipure Water Defenders who pulled off an astonishing upset against Jaja's team.
The rankings will definitely change as the season progresses, but the competitiveness and excitement of the games will surely remain.
