The Philippine Football League or PFL is the top-tier professional football league in the Philippines. It was officially launched in April 21, 2017 with eight (8) participating clubs and it replaced the manila-based United Football League (UFL) as the top-tier league in the Philippines.
On January 26, 2020, the PFL secured a sponsorship deal with Qatar Airways as the official airline partner and title sponsor. Consequently, the PFL was formally renamed as "The Philippines Football League brought to you by Qatar Airways."
The PFL will launch a new season of the Paulino Alcantara Cup on November 07, 2021 with six (6) clubs competing for the title, namely the 2020 PFL champions United City FC, last year's runner-up Kaya FC-Iloilo, Azkals Development Team, Mendiola FC 1991, Stallion Laguna FC, and newcomers Dynamic Herb Cebu FC.
