The Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) Philippines successfully held its inaugural season as a professional league in 2021. With five (5) participating teams, the 2021 season or the Pia Cayetano cup started in July 18 2021 before it was suspended a week later due to a new wave of covid-19 infections. It later resumed in September 18 until the championship game in December 5, 2021.
The Parañaque Lady Aces won the championship trophy after they defeated the Taguig Lady Generals, 2-0, in their best-of-three series. Allana Lim of Parañaque Aces is the first-ever MVP of the WNBL after she earned 16.5 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game.

Playoffs and Championship
The first seed Parañaque Lady Aces faced the fourth (4th) seed Quezon Lady Spartans. Meanwhile, Taguig Lady Generals and the Glutagence Glow Boosters, the top 2 and 3 teams respectively, battled each other in the other semifinals match.
The Parañaque Lady Aces easily dispatched Quezon Lady Spartans, 2-0, after crushing them 98-56 and 85-53 in the first and second game respectively. In the other match, the Taguig Lady Generals won by default in the third game after the Glutagence Glow Boosters forfeited the match due to their failure to pay the franchise fee.
The Parañaque Lady Aces then defeated handily the Taguig Lady General in their best-of-three finals match, 2-0.
