The Pampanga Giant Lanterns is the only unbeaten team remaining in the 2023 season of the MPBL after the Nueva Ecija Rice Vanguards suffered their first defeat against the Sarangani Marlins in double overtime. Ahead of their much-awaited match on July 01, 2023, both the Lanterns and the Rice Vanguards signed reinforcements to boost their championship bids.
For the Lanterns, they will bring Encho Serrano and John Lloyd Clemente to support Justin Baltazar, Archie Concepcion and Jason Apolonio. Meanwhile, the Rice Vanguards signed Roi Sumang, Sherwin Concepcion, Orin Catacutan and Kemark Cariño.
