The defending champion Pampanga Giant Lanterns will lead the cast of eight (8) teams who will participate in the 2024 MPBL Invitational tournament in General Santos City starting February 21, 2024. Joining the Giant Lanterns in Group B are Manny Pacquiao's guest team called Bulalakaws, Quezon City Toda Aksyon and Valenzuela Classic.
Meanwhile, Group A is composed of the South Cotabato Warriors, Batangas City Embassy Chill, Bataan Risers and Manila Stars. Teams in each group will play a single round robin, with the top two (2) teams advancing to the cross-over semifinals.
The 2024 MPBL Invitationals is part of the Kalilangan Festival in General Santos City. Last year, the Zamboanga Family's Brand Sardines won the championship trophy against the Nueva Ecija Rice Vanguards.
A new team will definitely be crowned champion of the MPBL Invitationals as Zamboanga will not participate this year. Nueva Ecija Rice Vanguards are also busy playing in the PSL, same with the San Juan Knights.
The invitationals will serve as a preparation for the teams in their 2024 campaign. Nonetheless, the winners will bring home large cash prizes. Last year, the champions brought home two (2) million pesos.
