The Biñan Tatak Gel returned to the win column with a composed and balanced performance, defeating the Quezon City Black Bulls, who absorbed their second straight loss in the MPBL season.
Biñan showed resilience after a home defeat to the Gensan Warriors, improving to 1-1 behind a strong second-half surge that ultimately put the game out of reach.
Biñan established control early, taking a slim 29-24 halftime lead. However, Quezon City came alive in the third quarter, erupting for 29 points to briefly swing momentum in their favor. The Black Bulls’ surge proved short-lived, as Biñan responded with a dominant 26-10 fourth quarter to seal the victory.
Leading the charge for Biñan was Carlo Lastimosa, who scored 15 points, while Nic Cabanero provided a huge lift off the bench with 13 markers on efficient shooting. Kenny Rocacurva filled the stat sheet with 11 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 steals, anchoring the team’s two-way effort.
Veteran Marc Pingris controlled the paint with 8 points and 10 rebounds, while Renzo Subido and Mike Mabulac added 8 and 7 points, respectively. Jaymar Gimpayan also made his presence felt with 6 points and 8 rebounds, highlighting Biñan’s depth and balance.
For Quezon City, Mj Joson led the way with 15 points, while Bryan Rosalin added 11 off the bench and Clark Derige chipped in 8 points and 8 rebounds.
However, Quezon City struggled with consistency, particularly in the final frame where they were held to just 10 points. After their explosive third quarter, they went cold offensively, allowing Biñan to capitalize and pull away.
Biñan’s strong closing period underscored their composure and execution, turning a tight contest into a convincing win. With the victory, Biñan Tatak Gel gains momentum heading forward, while Quezon City Black Bulls drop to 0-2 and will need to regroup quickly to get their campaign back on track.
