The Meycauyan Marilao Gems remained unbeaten at 2-0, defeating Manila Batang Quiapo, 82–67, behind a composed, quarter-by-quarter takeover that kept Manila winless at 0-2.
Meycauyan wasted no time asserting control, jumping ahead 19–11 after the first quarter as Manila struggled to find early rhythm. That opening gap proved crucial—Manila spent the rest of the game trying to chase it.
The second quarter saw Manila briefly stabilize, matching Meycauyan’s pace offensively. But the Gems still edged the frame 22–20, heading into halftime with a comfortable 41–31 lead.
Any hopes of a Manila comeback were dimmed in the third period. Meycauyan delivered their most decisive stretch, outscoring Manila 23–20 while continuing to control the glass and dictate tempo. By the fourth quarter, the Gems were firmly in command. Even with both teams trading baskets (18–16 in the final period), Meycauyan never allowed the lead to dip into dangerous territory.
Agem Miranda once again proved to be the difference-maker, earning Best Player of the Game honors with a dominant stat line: 24 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists. His ability to score efficiently while facilitating offense kept Meycauyan’s attack fluid throughout all four quarters. He was backed by Miggy Corteza with 18 points and Robi Nayve with 10, as the Gems showcased balanced production from their starting unit.
Despite the loss, Manila showed flashes of competitiveness, particularly in the middle quarters where they managed 20 points in both the second and third periods. John Faa led Manila with 16 points and 5 assists, while Jed Salaveria added 8 points and 8 rebounds off the bench. However, the early deficit and defensive lapses proved too much to overcome.
