NBL: Mindoro Tamaraws Disiplinados Will Hold Tryouts On May 1-3 In Pola, Oriental Mindoro

Mindoro Tamaraws Disiplinados

The Mindoro Tamaraws Disiplinados announced that they will hold a tryout for homegrown players of Mindoro on May 1-3, 2021 at the Municipality of Pola Gymnasium. The team is looking for players aged twenty-one (21) to thirty-five who will represent Mindoro in the upcoming season of the National Basketball League (NBL), a professional regional basketball league in the Philippines.

The aspiring homegrown talents are enjoined to be at the training venue by nine (9) am. Due to the persisting presence of the Covid-19 virus, a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) will be administered for free to all participants. Nonetheless, minimum health standards such as the wearing of face masks, face shields, and social distancing will be implemented whenever applicable.

The Mindoro Tamaraws Disiplinados team is the newest franchise to join the NBL which was founded on June 07, 2018 by its president Celso "Soy" Mercado. Since then, the league has steadily grown after it attracted the interest of several cities and municipalities in fielding their own basketball teams.

In its official Facebook page, the NBL gladly welcomed the participation of the Mindoro Tamaraws Disiplinados which is owned by Mayor Jennifer "Ina Alegre" Cruz of Pola, Oriental Mindoro.
"A warm welcome to our newest Franchisee- Hon Mayor Jennifer “ Ina  Alegre” Mindanao-Cruz of Mindoro Tamaraw  DisiplINAdos! A revered public servant, Mayor Mindanao-Cruz heed the clamor of her constituents- she is bringing the professional league to Mindoro! She will make dreams come true! Join her and her team on May 1-3 at Pola Gymnasium for a 3 day tryout. NBL and the Games and Amusements Board representative will supervised the activity making sure that  safety and health protocols are strictly implemented. Mindoro homegrowns- the challenge is on!" announced the NBL.
Mayor Jennifer "Ina Alegre" Cruz of Pola, Oriental Mindoro was likewise excited to join the NBL with the hopes of inspiring the youth to improve themselves through sports. She thanked coach Justin Tan and vice-mayor Dodjie Panganiban for explaining to her the importance of basketball for the younger generation.
"Mindoro Tamaraws.... Try out sa Pola soon... thanks Justin Tan and Vice Mayor Dodjie Panganiban kase pinaintindi nyo sa akin importansya ng Larong Basketball sa ating mga kabataan," said Mayor Jennifer Cruz in her Facebook page.

Do not be confused, however, with the Mindoro Tamaraws in the MPBL and Mindoro Tamaraws Disiplinados in the NBL. It must be remembered that both Coach Justin Tan and Mayor Jennifer Cruz announced last year that the latter will become a part-owner of the Mindoro Tamaraws team in the MPBL. Since there is no confirmation yet has been provided if the Mindoro Tamaraws will depart the MPBL, it appears that Mindoro Tamaraws will participate in both the MPBL and the NBL.

Rodel Vaygan, who is perhaps the most popular basketball player from Mindoro at the moment, will lead the tryouts as the team aims to discover hidden basketball gems from the province of Mindoro. To recall, Rodel Vaygan led the Mindoro Tamaraws in its inaugural season in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). This time, he will be leading Mindoro in the NBL and he is more than thankful to Mayor Jennifer Mindanao Cruz for the opportunity.

"Salamat po Mayora Jennifer Mindanao Cruz! Abangan nyo po ang ating team Mindoro Tamaraws-Disiplinados sa NBL. Pure Home grown po ang team natin. Try out po malapit na!, exclaimed Rodel Vaygan.

So if you are a local resident of Oriental Mindoro, head to the Pola Gymnasium on May 1-3, 2021 and bring your A-game as many players are definitely raring to play in the hard court after more than a year of quarantine.
