The National Basketball League (NBL) Philippines hosted successfully its inaugural professional season last 8 July 2021 with the games being played at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in Pampanga. To recall, the Games and Amusement Board (GAB) approved on 26 August 2020 the NBL's application to become a full-fledged professional basketball league.
Eleven (11) teams participated in the first ever professional season of the NBL, but it eventually became ten (10) teams as Zamboanga Valientes withdrew their participation. The Pampanga Deltas proved that they are still the alpha of the league as they notched their second (2nd) consecutive NBL title after they swept the La Union PaoWer team, 2-0, in their best-of-three finals series.
