The defending champions Ateneo Lady Eagles will have to rely on its rookies in defending its crown this UAAP Women's Volleyball Tournament Season 84. With the departure of Ponggay Gaston and Kat Tolentino who were suppose to lead the title defense in the cancelled season 82 season, Dani Ravena as well as the Season 82 rookies including Faith Nisperos, Vanie Gandler, Kiara Cruz, and Roma Doromal will have to take the leadership role.
This Season 84, Ateneo will parade its highly touted rookies which include 5'10 Jan Angeli Cane and Takako Fujimoto from Ateneo De Davao University who play as Middle Blocker and Setter respectively. They both won Bronze Medals in the 2019 Palarong Pambansa.
Another rookie to watch for the Ateneo Lady Eagles is Pia Ildefonso who won the UAAP Season 81 Juniors Championship as part of the Nazareth School of the National University system. She stands at 5'9 and plays the Middle Blocker or Opposite Spiker Position.
Yvana Sulit is another product of the Ateneo De Davao University volleyball program. She is 5'10 tall and plays the Middle Blocker position. Alexis Miner is another Middle Blocker for the Ateneo Lady Eagles. The 6'0 tall volleybelle won two (2) consecutive Best Middle Blocker award in the UAAP Junior volleyball tournament as part of the FEU Diliman Squad.
Lyann De Guzman is also one of the bemedaled rookies of the Ateneo Lady Eagles. She won gold medals in the 2018 and 2019 Palarong Pambansa as member of the NCR volleyball team. She was also part of the Philippine Team who won silver medal in the 11th ASEAN School Games.
Jennifer Delos Santos hails from Ateneo De Cebu- SHS. She was a three-time Rebisco Regionals Champion and two-time CESAFI Best Outside Spiker awardee.
