The National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs is one of the favorites to win the UAAP Women's Volleyball championship this season 84 considering the talented rookies that will reinforce the team. It must be stressed that the NU High School Volleyball team won five (5) championships in six years before the UAAP Juniors volleyball was postponed due to the covid-19 pandemic.
Leading the incoming rookies is 5'7 outside hitter Michaela Belen who is a decorated high school volleybelle. She is a two-time UAAP Juniors Women's Volleyball season MVP (Seasons 80 and 82) as well as UAAP's best outside attacker in season 82. Outside of the UAAP, she was also cited as best attacker in the Palarong Pambansa.
Opposite spiker Alyssa Solomon is another promising rookie for the NU Lady Bulldogs. The 6'0 tall hitter won medals and trophies not only in the UAAP but also in other competitions such as the Palarong Pambansa where she won gold medals representing CALABARZON and NCR. She also won silver medal in the ASEAN school games in 2019.
5'7 Middle Blocker Erin Pangilinan may not be the tallest blocker but she can definitely compete. Like her teammate Alyssa Solomon, Erin Pangilinan was also part of the squad that won silver medal in the ASEAN School Games.
Sheena Toring is another blue chip recruit coming out of the NU High School Volleyball program. The 5'10 middle blocker also played a key role in the dominant run of the NU junior volleybelles in the UAAP. She also won a silver medal in the ASEAN School Games.
5'7 setter Kamille Cal will definitely be a key piece in NU's women's senior volleyball team in the coming years. Completing the roster of rookies for NU is Merriene Maderazo.
