The San Beda Red Lions is competing in the 2022 Filoil Ecooil Preseason Cup which is being held at the Filoil Center in San Juan City from 25 July to 27 August 2022. The players of the San Beda Red Lions are 6'1 Winston Ynot, 5'10 Jacob Cortez, Cyrus Llarena, 6'0 Eman Tagle, 6'5 Alex Roeland Visser and 6'1 Ralph Penuela.

Other members of the San Beda Red Lions are 6'0 Peter Alfaro, 6'6 Damie Cuntapay, 6'0 Joshua Tagala, 6'3 John Bahio, and 6'2 James Kwekuteye. Completing the squad are big men 6'6 Alex Teruel, 6'4 Justine Sanchez, 6'5 Yukien Andrada, and 6'8 Clifford Jopia. 5'10 JV Gallego who recently tranferred from NU is also part of the San Beda Red Lions.

The San Beda Red Lions is arguably the most dominant team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) of the Philippines in the past decade. They, however, lost in the previous two seasons against their rival Letran Knights.

Perhaps the San Beda Red Lions are best known for revolutionizing college basketball in the Philippines when they started the trend of recruiting Foreign Student Athletes (FSA's). Starting from Sam Ekwe, the Red Lions started to dominate the NCAA for several years.

The NCAA, however, banned FSA's from playing in the league. Without imports, the Red Lions will have to rely on their local talents. Can they win a championship trophy without an import?
