The individual awardees in the 2022 Season of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) are Jaycee Marcelino as the MVP (Most Valuable Player), Kyt Jimenez as the Rookie of the Year, Mark Yee as the Defensive Player of the Year, Shaq Taganas as the sportsmanship awardee of the year, Jerson Cabiltes as the Coach of the Year, Archie Concepcion as the Homegrown Player of the Year, and Bong Cuevas as the Executive of the Year.
In addition, the Mythical Five selection of the 2022 MPBL Season include Jaycee Marcelino, Hesed Gabo, Judel Fuentes, Cedric Ablaza, and Will McAloney. Meanwhile, Byron Villarias earned the Finals MVP award after a scintillating performance in the National Finals.

JAYCEE MARCELINO IS 2022 MPBL MVP
Jaycee Marcelino averaged 16.7 points at 50.7% efficiency, 6.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 2.7 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game in the 2022 MPBL Season. He ranked 5th in the league in terms of scoring and 2nd in the league in steals.
His career high is 26 points which he dropped thrice against the Nueva Ecija Rice Vanguards on December 5, 2022 (game 2 of the national finals); Batangas Embassy Chill on August 01, 2022; and Valenzuela Xur Homes on July 18, 2022.
BYRON VILLARIAS IS 2022 MPBL FINALS MVP
Byron Villarias scored an average of 14 points per game in the finals to carry the Nueva Ecija Rice Vanguards to their very first MPBL Championship Trophy. He also added 5 rebounds, 0.75 assist, and 1.25 steals per game.
If the elimination and playoffs round games are to be included, Byron Villarias scattered 13.4 points at 44.4% clip, 3.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.8 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game. He is arguably the best 3-point shooter of the Rice Vanguards as he converted 38.% of his attempts from rainbow territory.
He is 5th in the steals ranking with 1.8 steals a game, 10th in Field Goal percentage, 3rd in average 3-pointers made per game with 2.8 triples per game and 4th in 3-point percentage with 38.5%.
KYT JIMENEZ IS 2022 MPBL ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
Kyt Jimenez of the Sarangani Marlins captured the 2022 MPBL Rookie of the Year Award after a remarkable debut season in the MPBL. In his inaugural season, he averaged 17.2 points at 35.3% shooting, 7.9 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 2.8 steals and 0.5 blocks per game.
He ranks 4th in the league in terms of scoring with 17.2 games per match. He is also a force in the defensive end as he coraled 6.7 defensive rebounds per game which made him 6th in the league. Aside from getting rebounds, Kyt Jimenez is the number in steals in the MPBL with his average of 2.8 steals per game.
Kyt Jimenez is also the 2nd best player in the league in fishing fouls as he was hacked 4.6 times per game and was able to convert 3.6 free throws per night. His shooting from beyond the arc was also notable as he sank 2.9 triples per game although at a low efficiency of 29.4%.
MARK YEE IS 2022 MPBL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Mark Yee of Bacolod Bingo Plus proved once again that he is a force at the defensive end in spite of his age. He grabbed 11.6 rebounds per game while dishing out 2.5 dimes, 0.6 steals and 0.6 blocks per game. He also contributed in the offense of Bacolod with an average of 12.7 points per game.
Although he is already more than 40 years old, Mark Yee defied his age to secure 2nd place in the league as best rebounder with 11.6, slightly behind Cedric Ablaza's 11.8 rebounds per game which ranked first in the league.
Similar to Kyt Jimenez, Mark Yee is the 5th most fouled on player which is understandable given his aggressive playing style. He is fouled 4.1 times per game and he converted 3.3 free throws per match. Interestingly, Mark Yee ranked 2nd in terms of free throw percentage with 79.2%.
ARCHIE CONCEPCION IS 2022 MPBL HOMEGROWN PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Archie Concepcion is arguably one of the most entertaining players in the MPBL given his athleticism and explosiveness. He was a vital cog in the offense of the Pampanga Giant Lanterns as he contributed 15.1 points per game which made him 6th in the league's scoring leaders. He was also efficient with a 42.9% conversion rate from the field.
Aside from scoring, his rebounding was likewise valuable to his team. He grabbed an average of 4.2 rebounds per game while passing 2.7 assists per game and stealing 1.6 possessions per game.
JERSON CABILTES IS 2022 MPBL COACH OF THE YEAR
Jerson Cabiltes proved that he is one of the best coaches in the Philippines after steering the Nueva Ecija Rice Vanguards to an unprecedented 25 game winning streak which includes 21 wins in the elimination and 4 wins in the playoffs. Their winning run was only broken afther their loss against the San Juan Knights in game 1 of their best-of-3 north division finals.
In the entire 2022 MPBL Season, he was only beaten twice en route to the championship trophy. His two losses were in the North Division Finals Game 1 against San Juan Knights and Game 3 of the MPBL National Finals versus Zamboanga City Family's Brand Sardines.
