The MPBL (Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League) will hold a game in Oriental Mindoro for the very first time featuring the home team Oriental Mindoro Disiplinados on July 4, 2023 at the Sentrong Pangkabataan Basketball court against the visiting Pasig City MCW Sports. Previously known as the Mindoro Tamaraws since it joined the league in the Lakan Season (2019-2020), the team will finally host its first home game.
For this season, the team rebranded as the Oriental Mindoro Disiplinados. Unfortunately, their win-loss record leaves much to be desired as they are currently stuck in the bottom of the standings.
The MPBL visit will feature a triple header. The Paranaque Patriots and the Marikina Shoemasters will open the festivities at 04:00 PM. This will be the first game of the Marikina Shoemasters after head coach Elvis Tolentino was embroiled in a controversy when he hit Felipe Chavez in the stomach.
The second game will be a battle of two (2) contenders. The Caloocan Batang Kankaloo will look to extend the league's second-best winning streak to 8. Meanwhile, the Gensan Warriors also hope to solidify their standing in the south with another win.
For sure, the Oriental Mindoro Disiplinados will not allow themselves to be humiliated in front of their home fans. They will definitely strive to improve their 3-14 record.
