The Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) successfully held its 2023 All-Star festivities at the Bataan People's Center on September 16, 2023. The events held were the Executive game, Slamdunk Contest, 3-point shootout and the main all-star game between the North Division and South Division All-stars.
The South Executives demolished the North Executives, 114-63, in the first side event of the all-star game. Manny Pacquiao earned the best player of the game citation after dropping a triple-double with his 33 points, 11 rebounds and 15 assists.
In the Slamdunk contest, CJ Gania of the Pampanga Giant Lanterns became the new slamdunk king after beating Poypoy Actub of the Imus SV Squad who was heavily favored to win the slamdunk crown. CJ Gania jumped over Encho Serrano in his final dunk which earned him a perfect 50. Poypoy Actub had a chance to win the crown but he missed his between-the-legs dunk attempt which earned a very low score.
The MPBL All-stars also had a new champion in the 3-point shootout. Orlan Wamar Jr. of the San Juan Knights bagged the 3-point shootout crown in the 2023 MPBL All-star games after dethroning Domark Matillano of the Bacolod City of Smiles.
In the main event, the North Division All-Stars finally won against their South Division rivals, 99-91. Justine Baltazar carried the North stars with a superb double-doublet effort of 20 points and 23 rebounds. He also added 5 assists for his team. With his amazing output, Justine Baltazar notched the All-star game Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the 2023 MPBL All-star game.
