This year could be the most exciting Slamdunk contest in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) all-star game history as athletic young players are aplenty this season. Perhaps the most anticipated slamdunker is Poypoy Actub of the Imus SV Squad who is a walking highlight reel given his athleticism.
Also joining Poypoy Actub is Cj Gania of the Pampanga Giant Lanterns, Alex Santos of the Bataan Risers, Mike Alvarez of the General Santos Warriors and Justine Guevarra of the Bulacan Kuyas.
Other exciting dunkers to watch out are Val Fornillos of the Marikina Shoemasters, Ximon Sandagon of the Quezon Huskers and Rhinwil Yambing of the San Juan Knights.
The 2023 MPBL All-Star game will be held at the Bataan People's Center on September 16, 2023. Apart from the slamdunk contest, the one-day all-star festivities will also feature a 3-point shootout and a executive prior to the main game between the all-stars from the North and South.
Governor Delta Pineda earned the privilege of coaching the North Division All-stars after his team, the Pampanga Giant Lanterns, to the number one spot in their division. Meanwhile, Coach Alex Angeles of the Bacoor Strikers will guide the South All-stars.
This will be the first time that the MPBL will hold its all-star exhibitions in Bataan. Last season, the all-star games were played at the Batangas City Coliseum.
