The San Sebastian Golden Stags is one of the most storied basketball team in the NCAA having captured twelve (12) titles. It has also produced several basketball luminaries like "the beast" Calvin Abueva, Ian Sangalang and Paul Alvarez.
The last time the Golden Stags won a title was in 2009 when Calvin Abueva, Ian Sangalang and Leo Najorda were still playing. Since then, the team is in endless pursuit for another championship trophy.
Leading the Golden Stags are veterans Jessie Sumoda, Jacob Shanoda, Alex Desoyo, Rommel Calahat and Reggz Gabat. Other members of the squad are Ralph Gabat, James Una, Nikko Aguilar, Khit Barroga, Leo Velasco, Oniel Castor, Tristan Felebrico, Raymart Escobido, Mark Rainier De Leon, and Boom Singson, among others. Head Coach: John Kallos
John Kallos will debut as the head coach of the San Sebastian Golden Stags replacing Edgar Macaraya. Incidentally, John Kallos is the head coach of the Sarangani Marlins in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) and he used the opportunity to field some of his players as special guest license (SGL) players.
Alex Desoyo, Jessie Sumoda, Reggz Gabat and Rommel Calahat played for the Sarangani Marlins. Will their experience in the MPBL pay dividends for the Golden Stags?
