The University of the East Red Warriors have been a perennial cellar dweller in the UAAP Men's Basketball Tournament. This season 86, they will aim to shrugh off their tag as the whipping boys of the UAAP.
It will be a difficult task ahead for the Red Warriors as several of their star players left the team during the off-season. Hardworking big man Gani Stevens opted to transfer to the University of the Philippines, while Kyle Paranada also left the Red Warriors camp. Meanwhile, Harvey Pagsanjan initially announnced that he will turn professional in the MPBL, but he later decided to transfer to the NCAA to join the EAC Generals.
Despite the departure of their high profile playres, Jack Santiago who will return as head coach for the UE Red Warriors will make do with what we have. A bit of good news though is that UE will parade Delveion Jackson as its foreign student athlete. You can also check out the lineup of other teams here.

The UE Red Warriors lost much of its core from the UAAP Season 85 due to graduation and transfers. Luis Villegas, a one-and-done player, had already used up his eligibility. The Paranada brothers are also absent from UE's lineup this season as Kyle Paranada transferred to another school while his brother Nikko Paranada joined the PBA draft. Gani Stevens took his talent to Diliman to join the UP Fighting Maroons.
