The Iloilo United Royals reached the playoffs at 8th seed last season and they were able to drag the 1st seed Bacoor City Strikers to a rubber match in their playoff series. Taking off from that near upset, the United Royals are building a young and promising squad with the signings of recent UAAP graduates CJ Cansino of the UP Fighting Maroons, Mark Nonoy of the DLSU Green Archers and Gab Gomez and Jason Credo from the Ateneo Blue Eagles.
These UAAP stalwarts will add firepower to the previous core of the team including CJ Catapusan, Omar Larupay, JR Ongteco and Shaquille Imperial.
The United Royals also recruited veterans to guide the team. Point guard Aaron Jeruta will return to play for Iloilo after a brief stint with the Bacoor City Strikers last season. Other notable recruits are Gwayne Capacio, JV Capunan, 6'5 center RV Berjay and 6'7 Tzady Rangel who can both add size to the team.
