The General Santos Warriors are now known as the South Cotabato Warriors after a change in the ownership of the team's franchise. Michael Pacquiao, the son of MPBL founder Manny Pacquiao, is now the proud owner of the team.
Despite the change in the name of the team, the goal of capturing the national title remains. This is the reason why the South Cotabato Warriors still boast of ex-PBA players to bolster its roster.
The South Cotabato Warriors is still loaded with veteran players, making the team one of the contenders on paper. Returning for another campaign with the warriors are John Wilson, Nico Elorde, Jervy Cruz, Mark Cruz, Larry Rodriguez and Enzo Joson. The Warriors recruited young guns Kyle Tolentino and Marwin Dionisio to add youth to the mix.
