The Batangas City Tanduay Athletics is a professional basketball team representing the City of Batangas in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). The team is the inaugural season or the Anta Rajah Cup Champions after they defeated the Muntinlupa Cagers, 3-1, in their best-of-five series on April 19, 2018.
The Batangas City Tanduay Athletics is one of the ten (10) founding teams of the MPBL which include Bulacan, Bataan, Caloocan, Imus, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Paranaque, Quezon City, and Valenzuela. The team finished with an 8-1 record enroute to the playoffs.
The Athletics failed to repeat as champions as they only managed to reach the South Division Finals the next season (Datu Cup) after they succumbed against the Davao Occidental Tigers. They were again eliminated in the playoffs after Zamboanga Family's Brand Sardines booted them out of the first round.
The Team did not participate in the recently concluded MPBL Invitational Tournament last December 2021 but the team is hoping to reclaim the championship trophy in the 2022-2023 season. They recently hired Cholo Villanueva as their head coach who is expected to bring the core of the Makati City Skyscraper squad that topped the regular season standing in the Datu Cup.
