The Quezon Huskers is the newest franchise to join the MPBL (Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League) and they are looking to make a splash in the MPBL 2023 regular season. The team's first order of business is to acquire Eric Gonzales as the head coach and Richie Ticzon as one of his deputy coaches.

The Huskers held a tryout attended by around 90 participants as the team aims to bolster its squad with talented homegrown players. As early as now, the Quezon Huskers recruited college standouts from the UAAP and the NCAA to anchor its campaign including NCAA MVP Will Gozum. Other recruits are Brix Ramos, CJ Catapusan and AJ Madrigal from the UP Fighting Maroons.

Jose Antiporda and Allan Beltran from the UE Red Warriors will also reinforce the upstart Huskers team, together with RJ Minerva from the NU Bulldogs. Veteran Jun Manzo, also an alumni from the UP Fighting Maroons, will serve as one of the mentors for the young guns of the squad.
