The Rizal Golden Coolers was the dark horse in the 2022 MPBL Playoffs when they eliminated the 3rd seed Sarangani Marlins in the first round of the South Division Playoffs. That was quite a feat considering that the Marlins were heavily favored to advance.
The overachieving Golden Coolers enters the 2023 MPBL Season with high expectations. They will, however, miss the services of Jolo Mendoza and Keanu Caballero who opted to pursue different paths.
