The SGA Athletics took over the franchise of the Gerflor Defenders in the Premiere Volleyball League after the latter experienced trouble in paying the salary of its players in the recently concluded 2023 PVL 2nd All-Filipino Conference. To recall, the Gerflor Defenders went winless in the entire elimination round, 0-11.
The SGA Athletics, however, had not yet officially announced its lineup and its not clear as to whether they will retain the current roster of the Gerflor Defenders. The SGA Athletics will be a sister team of the Farm Fresh Foxies which is also owned by the family of Frank Lao.
