The Quezon Huskers joined the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) during the 2023 season as the latest franchise at that time. The team made the playoffs as the 5th seed in the South Division.
Unfortunately, the Huskers succumbed to the Zamboanga Family's Brand Sardines in the first round of the playoffs, 2-1. To redeem itself in the MPBL 2024 season, the Quezon Huskers signed notable players to reinforce its squad.
Perhaps the biggest signings are Gab Banal, the former MPBL MVP, and prolific scorer Judel Fuentes. The team will also have Will Gozum after he recently finished his college eligibility in the NCAA.
The Huskers also made sure to sign athletic and young players from the collegiate ranks. LJ Gonzales and Xyrus Torres from the Far Easter University (FEU) Tamaraws will join the Huskers. Their buildup bore fruit as the Huskers recently won the PSL President's cup against the Nueva Ecija Rice Vanguards. Head Coach: Eric Gonzales
Coach Eric Gonzales is a veteran tactician having coach the Iloilo United Royals in the Lakan Season. He also had stints in other leagues which he can definitely bring to the Quezon Huskers. The team will open its campaign in the MPBL on March 11, 2023 at their homecourt in the Quezon Convention Center located in Lucena City.
The homegrown players are Topeng Lagrama, Ryan Placino, Arjay Dongog, Paeng Salonga and Mark Alcala. Jeric Teng also has a lineage from Quezon as his mother is from Gumaca.
