2022 UAAP Season 85 Top Blockers in Men's Basketball

2022 UAAP Season 85 Top Blockers in Men's Basketball

Angelo Kouame of the Ateneo Blue Eagles is the top blocker of the 2022 UAAP Season 85 after the end of the 1st round of elimination games with his average of 2.57 blocks per game. The 6'11 big man has always been the anchor of Ateneo's defense with his size and athleticism which makes it an automatic mismatch for the opposing team's big men.

He is not only a wall when it comes to defense. Ange Kouame is in fact also the top rebounder in the UAAP Season 85 with his average of 11.43 boards per game.

Michael Phillips of the DLSU Green Archers is the second (2nd) best blocker with his own average of 2.17 swats per match. Incidentally, Michael Phillips is also the second-best rebounder of the UAAP Season 85 right behind Ange Kouame. He is averaging 10.5 rebounds per game.

National University Bulldogs' big man, Omar John, is the third (3rd) best blocker after he averaged 1.71 blocks per outing at the end of the first round of the eliminations. Although he is not in the top 5 rebounders list, Omar John is still a force to reckon with at the middle given his athleticism and agility. No wonder that the NU Bulldogs are in the top 2 of the standings after the end of the 1st round of eliminations.

Adama Faye of the UST Growling Tigers and Raven Cortez of the DLSU Green Archers are knotted at fourth (4th) place of the best blockers of the UAAP Season 85. They are both averaging 1.67 blocks per game.

Adama Faye is another bright spot for the hapless UST Growling Tigers aside from super sophomore Nic Cabanero. In addition to his 1.67 blocks, Adama Faye is grabbing 9.67 rebounds per game which makes his the fourth (4th) best rebounder. Meanwhile, Raven Cortez provides much needed hustle and presence in the interior with his own production of 1.67 blocks per game. He is a revelation for the Green Archers who are somehow underperforming.

Completing the cast of the top five (5) blockers in the 2022 UAAP Season 85 is Malick Diouf of the UP Fighting Maroons. Since his debut for the Fighting Maroons, he proved to be a key piece in UP's resurgence as shown by his UAAP Finals MVP Award last season 84. This Season 85, he is again the man in the middle for the UP Fighting Maroons as he is averaging 1.57 blocks to be in 5th place of the best blockers list. Moreover, he is also in the top 5 rebounders with 9.86 rebounds per match.
